The primary leather we use for NO/AN bags and accessories is a Portuguese, natural calf grain leather. Grain leather gets softer with time and use. Any variations of texture on the bags should not be considered as flaws, because they are inherent to the leather and its quality. This is what makes grain leather bags unique and gives them their special character.
Since leather needs moisture and is sensitive to direct sunlight, we recommend you use our NO/AN cleaning and conditioning balm -which was specifically developed for grain leather- while storing your bag in the dust bag provided, preferably in a cool and dry place.
You can use our balm on a regular basis to keep your bag looking clean and its leather smooth and supple. After removing excess dust from your bag, apply small amounts of balm gently on the leather using a clean cotton cloth. Wait for a few minutes and use another cloth to polish the leather while removing any excess lotion.
Leather is an organic material, which will develop a natural patina over time. If your bag has been in the rain or snow, simply remove the excess water with a cotton towel and let it air dry. Do not put your bag against a heating source, which may damage the leather. Strong liquids and chemicals, such as perfumes, nail polishes and other alcohol-based products, may leave permanent stains on the leather.
The lighter colors of leather may naturally become darker and patinated over time. We certify that all our skins are bi-products hailing from the meat industry.
